Can you wear orthotics with minimalist shoes? The answer is yes. But only certain minimalist shoes can tolerate and have the room to comfortably fit an orthotic. What you want is a minimalist shoe with a removable insole. If the shoe does not have a removable insole, you will be unable to fit an orthotic in there. That is due to the lack of depth that minimalist shoes have. Below I have listed some examples of orthotic friendly minimalist shoes:
Brooks Puredrift Lightweight Running Shoes– These shoes have a 4mm removable sock liner, leaving plenty of room for a thin orthotic to fit.
Vivobarefoot EVO Lite Running Shoe– This shoe has a removable and washable insole that can be removed to comfortably fit an orthotic with little trouble.
Vivobarefoot Ultra Running Shoe– This shoe features a removable neoprene footbed that will easily fit an orthotic or insole.
Merrel Mix Master Move Trail Running Shoe– This shoe as well features a removable footbed or insole to comfortably fit your orthotic.
