Does the Darco Body Armor Night Splint Work for Plantar Fasciitis?

There are tons of Night Splints on the market of all shapes and sizes.  The question is does the Darco Body Armor Night Splint work for Plantar Fasciitis?  The answer is yes, but all night splints essentially work for plantar fasciitis.  As long as your night splint holds your ankle at 90 degrees you will be fine, no matter what the brand.  Now the Darco Body Armor Night Splint is different than a lot of other Night Splints in that the Velcro is on the back of the ankle holding the Night Splint in place as opposed to the velcro on the front of the ankle.

This leaves the hard core of the Night Splint on the anterior portion of the foot.  The number one question when buying a night splint is will you be able to sleep in it. If the answer is no do not get the Night Splint.  The Darco Night Splint would be ideal for people who sleep on their back as the foot would not be against the core of the splint as much.  Additionally the Darco Night Splint will not break when you get up to walk in the middle of the night because the Velcro is on the back.

Biomechanically speaking the Night Splint holds the big toe joint in dorsiflexion, by doing so it causes the windlass mechanism to take effect in the foot, thus stretching the plantar fascia while you sleep.  This is other unique feature of the Darco Body Armor Night Splint.  This Night Splint is different enough that if you have failed previous night splints, you might still be successful with the Darco Body Armor Night Splint.

To summarize, the Darco Body Armor Night Splint may not be the prettiest but it does have a biomechanical advanatge to other night splints by holding the toe in dorsiflexion.  Also, it will be more durable and be ideal for people who sleep on their back.  I highly recommend the Darco Body Armor Night Splint for people with resistent Plantar Fasciitis who want to use a Night Splint.  The Darco Body Armor Night Splint can be purchased from Amazon here for about $30:
