Can you wear orthotics or insoles with open toe shoes? That is a common question asked of Podiatrists everyday. The answer is yes, you can wear orthotics or insoles with open toe shoes, but not just any orthotics. The orthotic has to be low profile, in other words custom orthotics will most likely not be able to be used in open toe shoes. Also, those Dr. Scholl over the counters also will not be effective for wearing orthotics or insoles with open toe shoes. There are a couple of orthotics or insoles that were designed with an open toe shoes in mind. The one I recommend is foot petals. These have the low profile and also were designed with an open toe shoe in mind. Basically, these are orthotics created specifically to be worn with open toe shoes. They feature a poron top cover which is the material that many orthotics use as a top cover so you will not be losing any cushioning in all likelihood by using this orthotic.
