A common question that a lot of patients have worries about is can they swim when they have a Plantar Wart? The answer is of course, yes. Now as you know the wart is a virus HPV, and yes this wart is contagious. However, the chances of the wart being transmitted to someone in the same pool as you is close to zero, since there is chlorine present. Again, while the lakes and other bodies of water do not posses chlorine the chances of the wart being transmitted to anyone is close to zero.
Now the one caveat is yes you could, in theory, spread the wart by walking on a locker room floor (the chances are still very remote) but yes it would be a possibility. However, this can be prevented by simply wearing slippers. This isn’t hard. Just wear sone inexpensive slippers to walk about in the gym and you should be fine. So to review: Yes you can swim when you have Plantar Warts.
