Best Work Boots for Flat Feet

Lets be honest, having flat feet sucks.  Your feet are sore and at the end of the day just feel plain tired.  If you work all day on your feet in work boots that can exacerbate the problem.  What can help with the pain and fatigue brought about by flat feet?  The first thing you should try before changing shoes in a lot of cases is orthotics or insoles to help support your arch.

Another treatment that can help is just something as simple as changing your shoes, specifically the shoes you work in all day.  What should you be looking for in a work boot for people with flat feet?  You want a solid moderately shaped arch that will contour to your foot.  The biggest mistake some people with flat feet make is looking for a shoe with a high arch.  That will just exacerbate your problem by placing extra stress on your arch.  The other trait you want is a shoe that has a width to it. Flat feet tend to be wider and a narrow shoe can place stress on the outside of your feet.  Below I have listed a couple examples of work boots for people with flat feet

Timberland White Ledge Boot–  This boot utilizes EVA in the midsole to help support the arch.  Why do I like EVA? As a material it will mold itself to your arch and provide a level of arch support that will not put undo stress on your foot.

Timberland PRO 50501 Expertise LT Steel Toe Work Boot–  This is similar to the White Ledge boot, however this has a steel toe and EVA so if your job requires a steel toe, you can still have the advantage of the EVA midsole.

Catepillar Diagnostic Steel Toe Waterproof Boot–  This is possibly my favorite work boot for somebody with flat feet, especially someone experiencing pain do to the flat feet.  Not only does this work boot feature an EVA midsole it is also perforated with gel technology to help cushion your foot and reduce stress on your foot while you walk. The shoe is also designed to support the natural motion of your foot.

Keen Utility Detroit Mid Steel Toe Work Boot–  I put this boot here for completeness sake.  It features an EVA midsole but also has a heel lock, which can help reduce excessive pronation in your foot. So if one of your problems with your foot is excessive pronation causing it to flatten out, this may be the boot to look at.
