Best Volleyball Shoes for Setters

Setter is a complex and unique position in Volleyball.  It is only natural that a setter would have different requirements in their shoes than an outside hitter.  One of the key traits that you look for in a Volleyball Shoe for a setter is traction.  A setter has a great deal of cuts and acceleration that are needed as opposed to an outside hitter.  While bounceback and jumping are important to a setter they are not as important as they are for an outside hitter.  With that in mind I attempted to write about what I think the best Volleyball Shoes for a Setter are:

ASICs Gel Domain Volleyball Shoe–  I think the ASICs Gel series is ideal for Volleyball players. The gel helps reduce the stress and strain placed on your foot, while at the same time providing a strong bounce back or rebound effect.  Now this shoe has the added advantage of having high abrasion rubber in critical outsole areas to help with the sharp cuts and stress placed on the shoe from a setter.

Mizuno Wave Bolt 3–  This shoe features an enhanced AP midsole with increased rebound cushioning durability while maintaining a light weight.  It is often forgotten that the weight of your volleyball shoe does matter. The lighter the shoe the easier to cut and jump with.  The other advantage with this shoe are grooves placed on the outsole which gives the setter increased traction.

ASICs Gel Rocket Volleyball Shoe–  This shoe might provide the best traction on the market, because it features a full length gum rubber outsole, in addition to the Gel system that I wrote about earlier.
