Osgood Schlatter disease is a pain located below the knee cap, that occurs predominantly in children between the ages of 10-15. Some numbers indicate that effects as much as one in five adoloscents. There are many treatments for Osgood Schlatter disease such as rest, orthotics and braces. Osgood Schlatter typically attacks children who play an athletic sport that requires a lot of starting and stopping such as soccer. Now, since it is a transient condition it will stop after your child stops growing. One of the treatments you can use to help decrease the pain of Osgood Schlatter disease is to get soccer cleats to reduce the stress and strain that is placed on the knee and the growth plate. Below I have listed a couple examples of soccer cleats that should help with Osgood Schlatters disease.
Diadora Forza TF Soccer Cleat– This cleat features a fixed cotton insole with a shock absorbing EVA to help reduce strain and stress on the knee.
Addidas Goletto TRX HG Soccer Shoe– Again we have an EVA molded insole to help absorb shock. This is a fairly common material used in insoles and can be very effective in reducing stress across a knee joint.
Adidas Performance Conquisto Firm Ground J Cleat– These are some of my favorite soccer cleats on the market due to the strong construction. This allows very little sheer forces on the Tibia and the growth plate where the pain will be occurring. This will help decrease the amount of pain and discomfort the child has, while also offloading the stress region
