Best Running Shoes for Obese/ Overweight people

One of the best things you can do when you are overweight is to work out and run.  However, it can be hard to find sneakers or shoes that can fit comfortably when you are running.  Below, I list what I believe are the best running shoes for people who are obese or overweight.  What do you look for in a shoe for obese or overweight people? You want cushioning to help decrease some of the pain you feel and you want support as well, so it does not just fold up.  Additionally, you want durability. Does the shoe last?  And, because you are overweight, you may need a sneaker with some width.  Below I have listed the best running shoes for people who are overweight or obese.

ASICS Gel Venture–  This sneaker uses ASICs gel technology to provide you extra shock absorbtion and padding to help reduce stress on the heel.  Additionally, this sneaker features a removable insole. So if you have orthotics or insoles that you wear, you will be able to fit orthotics in this sneaker with little trouble.  ASICS have a full line of running shoes with gel. I chose this sneaker because it is my favorite ASICs sneaker for the obese. I do encourage you to look at other types to see which you would prefer.

Reebok Pheehan-  This sneaker features an EVA midsole which will help cushion your foot during running.  EVA is an ideal midsole as it will contour and shape to the form of your foot and provide support specifically for your foot.  It also features a padded tongue and groove, which is an aspect of a sneaker you should look at if you are overweight .  Chances are your shoe will fit tight, and if you have a padded tongue that should make your foot comfortable.

New Balance 1260v7 Running Shoe–  This is one of my favorite running shoes on the market.  It is manufactured by New Balance which is the preeminent company when it comes to shoe construction. Because they fit to width, this New Balance shoe should give you a comfortable fit. New Balance is one of the best running shoes on the market and really most New Balance sneakers can work for obese or overweight people. Additionally, this shoe features ABZORB crash pad in the heel to help reduce some of the stress you feel during gait.
