Finding the right running shoe is difficult; finding the correct running shoe for a runner with flat feet is extremely difficult. When looking for a quality sneaker for a runner with flat feet, there are some specific features to look for:
Arch support– You do not want a sneaker with too high of an arch. This will result in fatigue and a tiring of your foot as you run. You want a sneaker that will support your arch but mend to the contour of your arch.
Midsole Stability– You want a sneaker or shoe that is stabile and helps stabilize the foot during running. Typically, you will find unstable mid foot in cheaply made sneakers. An easy way to test it is to take the sneaker and try and bend it. If the shoe can bend to touch the toe, it is unstable.
Heel control– The key to controlling pronation that exacerbates a flat foot is in the heel. You need a solid heel, with hopefully a bit of elevation to help take strain off the Achilles. Below click on the picture for more information about the sneaker.
Without further ado, here are some sneakers that I believe fit the bill for the best sneakers for runners with flat feet:
PUMA Women’s Cell Riaze Cross Training Shoe– Do not let the low price fool you. This sneaker fits a runner with flat feet comfortably and covers the main aspect of traits listed above. Bonus is a TPU shank which will help support your arch more than a typical shank.
PUMA Men’s Cell HIRO Running Shoe– This sneaker has the bonus of the elevation of the heel, so if one of the complications of your flat feet is plantar fasciitis or Achilles Tendonitis,or if you have tight heel cords, this is the shoe to get. It also has a TPU shank for added stability while running.
PUMA Men’s Cell Oliz 2– Another sneaker from PUMA that I recommend. Again, all the properties listed above are present in this sneaker.
New Balance I have chosen what I believe are the four best New Balance for runners with flat feet. One of the advantages with the New Balance is, due to flat feet you typically need a wider sneaker, and New Balance fits their sneakers to width. New Balance also goes out of its way to put form over style. They feature low arches as well that will contour to the arch of your foot. Below you will find the models of New Balance I recommend. The models I chose were the 1080, 870, 505, and the 1260.
