Best Running Shoes for Diabetics

One of the best treatments for Diabetes is exercise, and an ideal form of exercise is running.  Finding the correct running shoe when you are a Diabetic does not have to be hard.  There is no “one” shoe that a diabetic needs to wear.  The only thing that a diabetic must look for in a shoe they are going to wear is that the shoe fits properly.  Diabetics can get into trouble with an improper fitting shoe, especially a running shoe.  An improperly fitting shoe can cause blisters which can lead to infections.  If the shoe does not fit properly do not wear it.  Ideally, you want a shoe that is not too tight but provides a comfortable fit.  Below I have give a couple of running shoes I would advise for Diabetics:

Aetrax Zoom Running Shoe–  This shoe is ideal for Diabetics due to one specific trait: it features a Mozaic insole to the sneaker.  This Moziac insole can be used to meet the individual needs of a runner with Diabetes, whether you are a high impact runner or a weekend warrior. Also, the mesh tongue makes the sneaker breathable and helps alleviate pressure.

New Balance m940v2 Running Shoe– With most diabetics I always recommend New Balance sneakers.  Why New Balance?  Simply put, they fit each sneaker to your foot.  They fit to width and they fit to length.  Remember, fit is the number one trait you look for in a sneaker.  I like the 940 because Medicare recognizes it as a Diabetic shoe.  So, if you are on Medicare this could be a sneaker you could order.  It also features N2 low to ground cushioning to help you with your pain.

New Balance 840–  This running shoe is essentially the cousin of the 940 above.  I cannot overstate it enough how much I recommend New Balance Sneakers for a Diabetic.  Consider choosing a sneaker like real estate instead of Location Location Location.  This is just fit fit fit.  Again this shoe codes as a Diabetic shoe as well.  One difference between this and the 940 is this has a larger toe box, so if you suffer from bunions or hammer toes this would be the sneaker to get.
