Best Pads or Splints for Tailors Bunionettes

Tailors Bunions or Bunionettes can be a real pain.  They are an annoying bump or excursions on the lateral side of the foot.  They can limit the footwear that you can wear and can cause a great deal of discomfort when bumped into.  So what do you do to help with the pain from Tailors Bunions or Bunionettes? There are a few options:

1.  Purchase wider shoes such as New Balance sneakers or sneakers in a wider size

2. Surgery- See a Podiatrist and have the bump surgically removed.  Don’t be scared. It’s a simple, same day operation that tends to have very positive results.  In most cases you can actually walk home after having the procedure.

3. Buy a splint or pad. This is probably the easiest solution. Most pads can be purchased for as low as 10 dollars. They will take pressure off the area causing you the discomfort.  Remember, the key thing to look for in the pad is that it protects the exposed bump. Here are some tailors bunion or bunionette pads I recommend:

Dr. Fredericks Tailor Bunion pads– These pads are simple to apply with little discomfort or pain.   They are reusuable which is a huge advantage.  One of the mistakes a lot of people make when purchasing bunionette pads is they buy pads that stick on. Stick-ons are not reusable so they are less than ideal for what needs to be done.  As you can see these slip on rather easily.

All Gel Tailors Bunion Pads–  When I look for pads I tend to be attracted to pads that utilize gel or silipos. They are reusuable and tend to not lose strength over a period of time like other pads. This is similar to the pads above except these utilize silipos.

Gel Bunionette Shield–  These pads are my favorite because they have such a low profile to be able to fit into the tightest shoe while still providing protection from friction on the outside.  Also, this is a stable pad that will not move or be jostled like other pads. You will not have to reorient the pad in the shoe.
