Best Pads for Sesamoiditis or Sesamoid Fractures

Sesamoiditis is a very painful condition that effects runners and active people everywhere, and can be very discomforting and limiting activity.  There are many different treatments for sesamoiditis and sometimes it can even result in surgery.  But generally seasmoiditis can respond to conservative treatment.  The key to any conservative treatment is that it takes pressure off the sesamoids. The type of pad you look for is a Dancer’s pad.   These are readily available on the internet and can be applied to the bottom of the foot to take pressure off your sesamoid and reduce the stress there.

Now you are probably thinking I am going to have to constantly replace the pad as long as the seasmoiditis is present. The answer to that is probably.  But if you want a solution to that problem consider applying the dancers pad to the top of your orthotics if you have orthotics that you wear.  This will allow relief and keep you from having to constantly change pads.  Or you can just purchase an orthotic with a dancers pad already present. There are a couple of orthotics that have an actual dancers pad inserted into the orthotic to help off load the sesamoids.
