I wrote this article to help people who have to stand all day at work in choosing what orthotic or insole they should wear. There are many on the market and it can be difficult to choose a pair. Chances are if you are reading this, you tried Dr. Scholl’s and it failed miserably. Do not be distressed as that is a very common occurance. Dr. Scholl’s orthotics really are not created for someone standing eight hours a day at work. What you want is an orthotic that provides comfort while at the same time providing solid arch support. Below I give a couple examples of orthotics or insoles I recommend for people who stand all day at work.
Superfeet Orthotics– If you not only work but also run, consider these superfeet orthotics. These are manufactured with an athlete in mind. However, they can just as easily be used for standing and walking. One of the great advantages of Super feet orthotics is that you can fit them to the individual shape of your foot. They have orthotics for flatfeet and some orthotics for high arches. So if you are looking for a specific orthotic for your foot type just click on the link below and you will have a full selection from Amazon.
One of the newer modifications Superfeet has made to their orthotics is to provide anti fatigue capabilities in them.
Spenco Polysorb– If you are looking for true comfort and not so much arch support consider Spenco. Spenco has patented technology which creates these orthotics that provide cushioning throughout a full day of work. The best I can describe Spenco is they are the closest you will get to walking on pillows anywhere. Now the down side is if you are looking for solid arch support, you are better off with Superfeet above or Powerstep. But if your goal is pure comfort then consider Spenco Polysorb.
PowerStep– My favorite orthotic or insole on the market for standing all day, this features a poron top cover to help reduce stress and strain on your foot. While at the same time they come in a polypropilene shell to help support your arch. These orthotics are the most commonly dispensed orthotic by Podiatrists for that reason. In my mind they provide the best combination of arch support as well as comfort.
