Best Orthotics or Insoles for Basketball Players Young and Old

Basketball is a sport that places a lot of stress on the feet and ankles.  This can lead to a myriad of conditions ranging from stress fractures, torn muscles and tendons as well as ligament injuries.  One of the ways to help reduce the stress and strain on your feet and reduce the risk of injuries is via orthotics or insoles.  Now there are tons of orthotics and insoles on the market and some of them are actually made specifically for basketball players.  But which ones to choose, as some are better than others?  Here are what I consider the best orthotics or insoles for basketball players:

Memory Foam Orthotic Basketball Orthotics–  These orthotics utilize memory foam, which takes an impression of your foot and then makes an individualized orthotic specifically for your foot.   If you have a unique foot structure and are worried about getting an individualized orthotic for your foot, ideally, I would prefer an orthotic with more padding for basketball playing. However, if you have a unique foot such as flat or high arched, this orthotic may be the way to go.

Shock Doctor Court Insole–  Now this is what I am talking about. This orthotic has the padding that you are looking for.  Remember, all that jumping and padding places stress on your feet and bones which can lead to insufficent factures and injuries.  This is the type of orthotic that I look for in basketball orthotics; padding to protect your feet as well as support for your feet.

Spenco Polysorb Insoles–  This is the orthotic I recommend. Spenco is a professional orthotic company unlike a lot of the companies that provide basketball orthotics.  This orthotic, in my opinion, will provide the best shock absorption of any basketball orthotic on the market and comes in all sizes. Additionally, this orthotic can provide arch support as well.
