Sesamoiditis hurts like hell, and there are not many treatments that can be successful in the treatment of sesamoiditis. There are pads you can wear or you can have the sesamoid removed, but that is a last resort treatment. One treatment that is highly recommended for sesamoiditis is orthotics. What you want in an orthotic for sesamoiditis is to off load the sesamoids. In other words to take pressure off the sesamoid. So below I have listed what I believe are the best orthotics for sesamoiditis:
Pedag 19474– One of the key things you need to look at in this orthotic is the metatarsal pad that is placed in the forefoot. That is the exact type of pad that Podiatrists create for sesamoiditis and as you can see here the pad is built into the orthotic. This pad will help take pressure off the sesamoids and off load them thus reducing the pain.
Stridek Tactical Trainer Insoles– If you are a runner or an athlete this is an orthotic designed for an athlete that also features a metatarsal pad. This orthotic also provides some more shock absorbtion than the Pedag. However, the Pedag provides better arch support so it depends on what you are looking for. Just remember whatever orthotic you choose it needs to have a metatarsal pad.
