Pregnancy can be painful and cause added stress to your feet. If you have conditions such as a bunion or plantar fasciitis before pregnancy, the pregnancy will only aggravate your foot conditions. Due to your pregnancy, your options for treating your foot pain during pregnancy are limited. One way to treat foot pain during pregnancy is orthotics. Custom orthotics from a Podiatrist make little sense, since the pregnancy is a temporary condition, and you do not want to spend $400 on a temporary treatment.
The orthotic for pregnancy that you are looking for will provide extra padding in the metarsal and rearfoot area. Also, you want some minimal arch support since during pregnancy your foot will flatten and widen. What orthotics can provide what you are looking for during pregnancy?
Below I have listed what I think are the ideal orthotics for pregnancy (I chose none that were very expensive since after pregnancy these orthotics may not fit anymore).
New Balance Supportive Cushioning Insole– These orthotics are great. They provide arch support as well as having a deep heel cup to help control rear foot motion and pronation. These orthotics also have a great padding in the metatarsal region. If you are suffering from Metatarsalgia, Neuroma or just diffuse pain at the forefoot on the bottom of your foot, these orthotics are for you. Also, these orthotics will help with the person concerned about the flattening of their arch as they do supply full length arch support.
Powerstep Protech Control Full Length Orthotics– These orthotics provide a great deal of arch support, and provide a very firm arch. These also have padding in the rearfoot. If your chief concern is flattening of your arch, these may be the orthotics you are looking for, as these orthotics will give you good firm arch support and at the same time provide padding to cushion your foot.
