The best foot orthotics is a custom foot orthotic made by a Podiatrist. A podiatrist takes an impression of your foot and from that creates a foot orthotic specifically for your foot. These custom orthotics can vary in expenses from $400 to $650, depending on your local Podiatrist. Sometimes they are covered by insurance, sometimes not. If they are not covered there are inexpensive over the counter orthotics that you can try first before outlaying such an expense. Below I have listed what I believe are the best orthotics for nurses:
Spenco Rx Foot Orthotic– This is a barebones foot orthotic. If you have one requirement for your foot orthotic and that requirement is extra cushioning this is the orthotic for you. Spenco uses its own patented technology to create an orthotic that helps reduce stress and strain on the foot. The downside of this orthotic is the arch support and biomechanical control are not the best.
FootMinders Custom Foot Orthotic for Sports Shoes and Work Boots– This orthotic uses a double layer of EVA to contour to your foot and provide you a great deal of comfort. This orthotic is specially formulated to help withstand being walked on for 10 to 12 hours a day and is very durable. This orthotic is specifically designed for Plantar Fasciitis or Flat Feet, so if your issue is high arches do not get this orthotic.
Powerstep Foot Orthotic– This is my favorite orthotic and the one that I wear. I prefer this orthotic due to the polypropilene shell that helps support the arch and it almost feels like it is propulsing you though gait. If your issue is your feet get tired as the day goes on this is the orthotic that I would get.
