Golfers suffer from a full range of painful foot conditions for which they wear and utilize orthotics. Golfers on a daily basis suffer pain and discomfort, whether it is from flatfeet, bunions, plantar fascists, achilles tendinitis or heel pain. Below I have made a list of the best orthotics for golfers. I provide a description and recommendations for what condition the orthotic would benefit a golfer with. All of these orthotics are available on Amazon.com. Additionally, all these orthotics are golf specific.
Superfeet Premium insoles– This orthotic has a lower profile with a small arch, which would benefit golfers who suffer from flatfoot pain. The high density foam helps with cushioning. The heel cup is deep which will help with abnormal movement. This orthotic would also be effective for golfers with plantar fasciitis, however I feel there are more superior orthotics for plantar fasciitis further down. This orthotic would be ideal for the golfer whose feet are “tired” after the round and have a generalized soreness, because this orthotic provides the best cushioning of most of the golf specific orthotics.
Aetrax Callaway Performance Cupped– This orthotic has a deep cup rearfoot with a significant arch. This orthotic is ideal for medium to high arched golfer who is suffering from plantar fasciitis or whose pain is located mainly in their rearfoot. This would be contraindicated for golfers having pain in the ball of their foot.
An orthotic very similar to the Aetrax Callaway Performance cupped is the Lynco L800. Its design is extremely similar to the Performance Cupped above but is made by a different company. Similar criteria for selection should be maintained for this orthotic as with the Aetrax Callaway Performance Cupped.
Custom Made Orthotics Golf (that’s the name)- These orthotics are pricey and ideal for severe deformities. I would not try these orthotics before trying at least one of the others listed on the page. This is a hard orthotic, which will strongly control pronation and excess motion of the rear foot, and would be ideal for people with Achilles Tendinitis or Plantar Fasciitis. Also, if you suffer from chronic ankle sprains, this would be the orthotic of choice for you. Golfers should avoid this orthotic if they suffer from forefoot pain, ball of the foot pain, flat feel, low arches or the feeling of their foot being “tired” at the end of the round.
