Children with high arches are unique. Most orthotics and material is customized for children with flat feet. So it can be difficult to find acceptable orthotics for children with high arches. What do you look for in orthotics for children with high arches? A couple things:
1. You want an orthotic that is comfortable- This is by far the number one requirement. Because your child has a high arch his or her feet is put under a great deal of stress. You are not worried about arch support. You want an orthotic or insole that will reduce the stress and strain placed on the foot..
2. Padding in the heel and forefoot- With a high arch, as we stated before, extra stress is placed on the foot and specifically that stress is generated on the heel and forefoot. In fact, some orthotics may tend to wear in that area with a high arched child because of the stress placed on them.
Pedag Joy Full Length 122– Comfort, Comfort, Comfort is the name of the game. This orthotic is one of the more comfortable you will find on the market with extra padding placed in the heel and forefoot to help reduce the stress and strain placed on the arch.
Superfeet Premium Junion Insoles– They actually make an orthotic specifically created for children with high arches. I believe they are the only company that has an orthotic specifically for your children with flatfeet. Being made specifically for high arch children you will find the extra padding is in the exact locations neccessary.
Spenco Polysorb Junior– This is probably my favorite orthotic for kids with flat feet. Spenco is a company that specializes in comfort orthotics. They have a top cover that is unique to their brand, and it almost makes it like you are walking on a mattress.
