It goes without saying that lineman have different requirements in their cleats than wide receivers. Lineman need sturdy, durable cleats that offer ankle protection. Whereas wide receivers are better off with lighter weight cleats that allow for quick cuts. Generally speaking if you are an offensive or defensive lineman you need to have high top cleats to provide protection for your ankle during lateral motion such as pulling, or stunting. I would highly recommend you look for cleats made of leather as leather is more durable than synthetic, which can break down easily. Lineman put far more pressure and stress on their feet than a wide receiver which can lead to breakdown of the cleat. Below I have listed a couple examples of Football Cleats for Lineman
Nike Air Zoom Boss Shark Football Cleats– This is a high top cleat made with a leather upper. Additionally, this cleat is available in a larger width size (since lineman tend to have wide feet). It also features a nylon shank for added protection of the foot. Nike specifically engineered this football cleat for offensive lineman and this provides protection as well as the traction you are looking for as a lineman.
Under Armour Spine Brawler Mid Football Cleat– Similar to the Nike Air Zoom this cleat as well is designed with lineman in mind. The Power Clamp locks your ankle for maximum support and power but still allows you the movement to be placed in a football stance. This cleat also features a protective tongue as well to help protect your foot and ankle.
