There are many products that can be placed on shin splints to help reduce the pain in the area. Everything from Biofreeze to many topical treatments can be used for the treatment of shin splints. The best time to apply Biofreeze is before a running or sporting activity as this will help with the tolerance of your pain with shin splints. Now a common mistake people make is, while Biofreeze is effective, there are other medications that when applied will absorb deeper into the skin, providing relief for a longer period of time. Below I have listed what I beilieve to be the Best Creams and Lotions for the treatment of Shin Splints:
Sweet Sweat Workout Enhancer– This is somewhat different than other pain reliveing creams and lotions. It works by causing a vasodilation in the areas to which it is applied. Vasodilation will decrease the pain you feel by increasing the blood flow to the area, thus helping the pain.
Magna Life Pain Relief Cream– One of their main ingredients used in this cream is Camphor, which is used in many Neuropathy drugs. The best way to think of this cream is Biofreeze but as a cream. If you get good results with Biofreeze this maybe the cream you want to try as it may give you longer and more sustained results.
Penetrax– In my opinion the best topical cream for Shin Splints, this cream provides some of the best penetration to the deep muscles, tendons and most importantly the Tibia, providing a great deal of pain relief in the area.
