Finding the right bunion splint or straightner to help with your bunion seems like a never ending job. There are myriads of models on the market all claiming to cure your bunion. First off, none of these splints will cure your bunion. The minute you take your splint off, your bunion will return. The only treatment that makes your bunion gone forever is surgery by a Podiatrist. So what do we look for in a bunion splint?
1. Comfortability- If a splint is too uncomfortable to wear than what is the point?
2. Does it hold the toe straight? This seems obvious but some do not perform this minor trick.
3. Does it off load the bunion? The majority of bunion pain comes from the bunion’s medical side rubbing against the side of the shoe, so the splint must have padding in this area.
So below I have written about what I believe are the best bunion splints :
Dr. Frederick Night Time Splints– If you are looking for comfortable splints to wear at night time these are probably the splints you want. They are easy to put on and comfortable to wear. They will hold your toe in the corrected position and should reduce any pain that your bunion will cause you at night.

Dr. Rogo Bunion Relief– If you just want a bare bones bunion splint this may be the way to go. This has padding on the area of the medial bunion to reduce the pain, with silipos, which is the preferred material. Also, this will hold the toe straight and comfortably fit in a shoe.
Bunion Aid Hinge Splint– If you are extremely active and a runner consider the hinge splint. It is created with the active person in mind as this splint will actually bend and flex with your toe as opposed to against it. Now, be aware this splint is bulky so it will not comfortably fit in tight shoes, but will fit in sneakers without any problem.
Dr. Fredericks Original Bunion Sleeves– This is my favorite bunion splint with the silipos pad and easy application. This will fit in any shoe or sneaker and is extremely comfortable.
