Bunion Night Splints can help reduce the pain and discomfort one feels from a bunion at night. What you want out of a bunion night splint, is a splint that is able to hold your joint in alignment. By holding the big toe joint in alignment this will reduce the amount of pain and discomfort you feel. Now, a night splint will not make your bunion go away so if you are expecting that to happen, it will not. The only thing that will make your bunion disapeer is surgery via a Podiatrist. Below I have listed what I believe are the best night splints for Bunion sufferers:
Nighttime Bunion Regulator Foot Splint– This splint will hold your toe straight and is easy to apply. Also, it is comfortable so you should be able to sleep soundly while wearing this splint. The key to this splint is the solid control it will have over your bunion keeping your joint in alignment. A lot of the pain from bunions comes from arthritic changes that take place in the joint due to the bunion. If you hold the joint in proper alignment that pain and discomfort should decrease.
Bunion Night Splint Hallux Valgus Toe Straightner– Again you have a night splint that will hold the toe straight. I actually feel this night splint is more comfortable than the splint listed above because of the padding present on the medial side of the splint.
Bauerfeind Valgulock– This is probably the strongest of the Bunion Night Splints. If you have a severe deformity and are nervous about a splints ability to correct it, this would be the bunion splint to consider. It’s actually a product of German engineering and is the strongest on the market. However, the trade off is it is not as comfortable as the splints above.
