ASICS are a very effective shoe for dealing with shin splints in runners. The ASIC shoe has many advantages including cushioning and padding in the shoe. Remember, Shin Splints are caused by a stress reaction in the Tibia. The stress reaction is stimulated by stress placed on the Tibia, which commonly occurs during running. So you want to look for a shoe that will reduce stress on the Tibia via padding and reduction of stress. ASICS, in my opinion, have the best padding for any sneaker on the market, but some ASICS shoes are better than others for Shin Splints:
ASICS Gel Nimbus Running Shoe– The number one model and brand I recommend for ASICS for people with Shin Splints is any of the Gel series. This places Gel in the forefoot and rearfoot of your foot and does a very effective job at reducing stress on the Tibia. The Nimbus has the advantage of the Fluid Ride bounce back system that reduces stress on the Tibia.
ASICS Gel Venture– This shoe, in addition to featuring the Gel system, has an EVA footbed. EVA is a material that is used in the construction of orthotics. EVA will contour and shape to the natural shape of your foot and function as an orthotic to reduce stress on the Tibia.
ASICS Gel Storm– Another shoe that features the Gel and the EVA, making it ideal for the runner suffering from Shin Splints.
