Volleyball players are at high risk of ankle issues. Whether it be an ankle sprain, recurrent ankle sprains or weak ankles, Volleyball players must be vigilant. But what brace do you wear if you have ankle issues and play Volleyball? There are many ankle braces on the market, but you as Volleyball player should look for two primary traits when evaluating an ankle brace:
1. Does it support and stabilize your ankle? If your brace cannot perform the task that you desire, the brace is no good.
2. It must be lightweight enough that it does not impede your movements in the action of playing volleyball.
Taking those two main traits into consideration, here is what I think the best ankle braces for Volleyball players on the market are:
Adidas Adzero Ankle Brace– This brace is more for the volleyball player suffering from mild to moderate ankle issues that just want some support. This brace is easy to place on and off and is lightweight enough that you will barely notice you are wearing an ankle brace. Where it lacks is in support, but as long as your problems are not severe such as recurrent ankle sprains then this brace should accomplish the task with little interference.
Veluxio Neoprene Ankle Brace– This brace is a little bulkier then the Adzero, but provides more stability. The brace is easy to apply and will be very effective in stabilizing the ankle.
Don Joy Ankle Brace– If you suffer from severe ankle problems this is the brace to purchase. The lace up structures does make it difficult to apply. But once on the ankle it will provide you the strongest support of any brace currently on the market. This is the brace many doctors use for patients with chronic lateral instability. This brace is bulkier but should not impede your ability to play Volleyball.
