Can you get a laser toenail treatment for fungal toenails at home?

Back about five years ago every Podiatrist under the sun was advertising laser toenail treatment for onychomycosis or fungal toenails. It was the miracle cure for fungal toenails. There was one massive problem with that, however. It was crazy expensive. Generally treatments ran to the tune of about $1,000 to $2,000. The other problem is it only worked about 25% of the time. If you are charging people that much for the treatment, your treatment better work. So why did some of the laser toenail treatments for fungus not work? Because some toenails are so damaged the laser will not work and you need the pills.

The reason it works for treating fungal toenails is that it kills the fungal tissue allowing the new healthy nail to grow over. However, if there is no healthy nail to grow over, essentially killing the fungus does nothing. The laser is successful in mild to moderate cases but not in severe cases.

So why would an at home laser treatment for toenail fungus ever be effective or as effective as the office? Well obviously the laser that you buy at home will not be as powerful as the laser that Podiatrists were using in their offices to treat toenail fungus. But you know the difference. The in office treatment was generally only 4-5 treatments, whereas the in home treatment can be done in 25-30 treatments. Basically after all is said and done you are getting the same laser exposure and power. It is just taking place over a longer period of time. So which at home laser for toenail fungus should you purchase? This can be a somewhat difficult decision since there are a couple on the market.

I tend to think this is one of the more effective, as it has the higher power and strength to penetrate the toenail and kill the fungus

Now the best and highest power at home laser on the market is the Curex ,so if you want to get the laser with your best chance at success this would be the fungal toenail laser you probably want to pursue.
