Hallux Limitus or Rigidus is arthritis of the big toe joint which limits motion of the big toe joint and is often times painful. It tends to strike people at advanced age but can strike people in their twenties. There are myriads of treatments for the condition, from orthotics to surgery and cortisone shots. One of the treatments that can be attempted is to alter your shoe gear. Now if you are a golfer it can be very difficult to find golf shoes that fit properly and comfortably when you suffer from big toe arthritis. Another shoe that might be helpful for the golfer with hallux limitus or Rigidus is the Callaway Cornado Golf Shoe. This shoe has more of a rocker appearance and functionality. This will help take pressure off the first metatarsalphalangeal joint where the stress and strain is centered. Also, the shoe is strong in the forefoot helping reduce vertical forces felt in the joint.
One other shoe I like for golfers with Hallux Limitus is the Under Armor Performance Golf Shoe. One of the ideal aspects of this golf shoe is it includes the material EVA on the sock liner. Not going to lie, I am huge fan of EVA when it comes to Podiatric issues so if you want to go to Amazon and just google golf shoes with EVA and choose one of those for your golf shoe I would not blame you. In additional to the EVA, this Under Armor also has the construction and rocker that makes me optimistic it will help alleviate some of your Hallux Limitus issues.
