What are the best lacrosse cleats for defense? Are there really cleats that are better for defenseman than others? Think about it, how much sense does it make for a lacrosse goalie and midfielder to wear the same cleats? A defenseman has completely different requirements for their cleats than goalies. Does a goalie care if the cleat makes him faster? But for a defenseman that is a big requirement. So what traits are we looking for in a lacrosse cleats for defenseman:
1. Lightweight- The lighter in weight the cleat is the faster and easier to cut it will be for the player
2. Traction- Better traction makes for faster cuts
3. Bounce Back- Bounce Back is the term used for cleats that can propel you. In other words make you faster
Under Armour Low Banshee– for a good rule of thumb low cleats are going to be faster then high top cleats. It is simple logic as high top cleats are heavier and bulkier while low top cleats are lighter in weight. This cleat is one of the lighter weight cleats you will find on the market. This cleat also features lightweight bladed cleats which provide both traction while allowing for the highest speed possible.
Nike Speedlax 4 Football Cleat– If you are looking for a cleat that has a hight top and will still allow for speed, this might be the cleat for you. This cleat goes out of its way to be constructed for speed. This shoe features Dual Shaped Cleats which allow cuts in either direction with superior traction as well. This is also one of the more light weight high top lacrosse cleats you will find on the market.
Under Armour Highlight Lacrosse Cleats– When it comes to lacrosse cleats I am partial to Under Armour. I feel that they put together the best lacrosse cleats going. For example this cleat features a Corespeed Chasis, which is designed to help with speed as well as accleration and deceleration. As with all Under Armour cleats this features lightweight bladed cleats, which again I feel are superior to other lacrosse cleats on the market.
