A very common question asked of Podiatrists all the time is Does Medicare Cover orthotics? The answer is No. Medicare does not cover custom orthotics except in one specific instance. If you’re a Diabetic and purchasing Diabetic Shoes then you are given two pairs of orthotics to place in the shoes. However, these orthotics tend not to be the traditional orthotics. These are heat molded orthotics, and are good for off loading pressure areas but poor at biomechanical control.
