Do new orthotics come out every year? Yes. Are they better than the orthotics of previous years? Sometimes. Now the best orthotic you can get is a custom orthotic created by a Podiatrist specifically for your feet, though those can cost lots of money. What I have done below is list what I think the best over the counter orthotics that are currently on the market in 2017. I did not list any Dr. Scholls because I am not a big fan of Dr. Scholls orthotics.
Superfeet– These orthotics are very similar to the 3D3 orthotics in that they can be purchased in different sizes, colors and makes depending on the requirements of your foot. These orthotics are great for runners or high impact athletes. These orthotics and insoles were originally created with the athletes in mind but have morphed into everyday use.
Sof Sol Air Orthotics– This is one of the newer entrants to the market. They are most similar to Spenco orthotics since their speciality is in shock absorption by having little air pocketes within the orthotic to help absorb stress and strain from the foot. These orthotics also are heavily marketed towards athletes and can be ideal for an athletes or a person just looking for plantar fasciitis relief.
Powerstep Orthotics– This is the orthotic most commonly sold in a Podiatrist’s office. These orthotics offer the best of both worlds with a polypropilene shell and a poron top cover. These orthotics were and are created for the average person in mind. They provide strong arch support as well as good cushioning in the area. If you are just looking for the best orthotic for the average person with average requirments, I highly recommend Powerstep Orthotics.
